Navigating Future Investments: Embracing Service-Oriented Mindsets and Digitization (Part 6)

Larry values a service-oriented mindset and diverse teams, emphasizing founders' ability to implement ideas while maintaining technical balance. Amino Capital will focus on digitization, investing in companies leveraging data for exceptional service and growth.

David: Larry, it's interesting that you mentioned the importance of having a service-oriented mindset. Do you find that successful founders tend to prioritize this human centric approach over pure technical expertise?

Larry: Absolutely. We value teams with diverse backgrounds, especially with a strong service mentality. Regardless of the role, it's crucial for everyone to get their job done. Especially, having at least one founding member who can bring ideas to life is essential. We don't want teams relying solely on hiring others to execute their vision; founders need to be builders themselves. It's about having a vision and the drive to deliver exceptional service. Of course, technical skills are vital too, but the team needs to be balanced. If everyone is a visionary but no one can implement ideas, or if everyone can write code but lacks vision, the team won't succeed.

David: Cool. So, where does Amino Capital see itself investing in the next five years? What are the emerging trends or areas of interest for you?

Larry: We'll continue our focus on digitization. Take generative AI, for example. Several years ago, we invested in companies like Reality Defender, which provided image verification services. We recognized the growing need for such services as generative AI technology advanced. Now, with the proliferation of generated content, their business is booming. Looking ahead, digitization remains a key trend. While buzzwords may change, the underlying principles of leveraging data and providing exceptional service will endure. Companies that excel at accumulating and utilizing data to improve their services will be our focus. Essentially, we're seeking companies that roll forward like a snowball, growing larger and more effective over time by leveraging data-driven insights to enhance their offerings and attract more users. So, in the next five years, our investment strategy will continue to prioritize companies with creativity, a service-oriented mentality, and the ability to leverage data effectively.
